I am getting a new 220 and building a new stand and new canopy.
Trying to figure out whether or not I should use a retrokit on the underside of the new hood or if I should by a t5 set that sits on the tank.

Unsure which to choose? Any one better than the other? Please give your opinion on which is and which you use and why?

Last thing to decide and can order and get ready for the BIG build.

is this a great deal

I was wondering what your thoughts were on it. This would give me 6 t5 lights and even more 2 strips of led lights, one white and one blue. This will be mounted in a hood with the inside painted white with a clear coat over the paint for more relection.
The tank is 6' and can't find a setup that would be 60" so I wonder if the 48" would light up the whole tank or if I would not have enough light.
Opinions please

I would personally do a retrofit of 12 3' bulbs over that tank. I use Hellolights DIY 4 bulb retro kit and I love it, just get 3 of them.

I personally don't think the light you linked will be enough light.

Going with a retrofit kit will be cheaper and you can possibly add more later if needed. Have you thought about all LED's? I know that are fairly new and not much historical data on them yet. But, from what I read and heard that might be a good option as well.

And with the fixtures above in your link. You will need to purchase 6 additonal bulbs. So add $120 to the cost at minimum.
