Hello, I have had my 150g tank and canopy on it for nearly 7 years. Last night when I was opening the canopy to feed fish I heard a cracking sound, I opened it all the way and realized the hinge holding canopy lid/door opening open was cracking and separating. It’s a plastic hinge on wood canopy. I had never really paid attention to it or gave it any thought. DSA who built aquarium built this canopy as well and they are no longer around.
No clue where to get new one? Any I find online like it say for glass canopy and mine is wood. I thought about just getting a piano hinge at Home Depot to replace but worried something wouldn’t line up the same with different hinge. I will Put picture in here of hinge. Let me know what ya think and thank you.

I DIY'ed my canopy, works great, no rust/rot. Try that

You are looking for a stainless steel piano hinge. They come in various lengths, and if you are skilled you can cut them to fit exactly. If you are not skilled it's as easy as screwing in a few dozen small screws.

This is not a complicated fix. Don't feel overwhelmed or that this is daunting. This is probably a replacement project that will take less than an hour.

You can find piano hinges at Home Depot - but they probably won't be true stainless steel. So it might be worth taking the time to find a real stainless steel one online and order it. If you buy a cheap piano hinge you could be replacing it every year with the amount of salt water our tanks evaporate.

Ok sounds like I will get some piano hinges. I’m skilled enough to do ;). I was worried if I pull this plastic one off and put piano one on the gap or something won’t be the same and canopy wouldn’t close right or line up if that makes sense?
