Found this in my tank and removed to a cup with tank water. Need to know if friendly or not before it’s too late

Chiton of some kind?
I don't think so? I've got lots of those in the tank but have not seen this before. Again, amazed how I can discover something new in a tank that I spend at least a few hours a day in front of for the past year! I really don't want to have to let it die if its a beneficial

I second @Tommy B

I have heard that some chiton species can be non reef safe however a vast majority of people say thats a bunch of nonsense.
I have a ton of tiny nocturnal ones in my personal tank and they are great cuc and some people will even order them specifically for algae control.

Yeah, definitely a Chiton - I've only heard of one genus of chitons (Placiphorella) that are carnivorous/omnivorous; there are only 14 species in the genus, and most of them are coldwater, so it's extremely unlikely that this chiton would cause any problems for you.

More likely, this chiton is herbivorous, and will be a good CUC member for you.
