How far do you live?
Yes lol. I've been in 19 years Active duty in APG, MDIt would be cheap and easy to replace and much more of a healthy start for sure. And, if used for quite some time before you inherited the tank the PVC could be pretty brittle by now. I'm certain the 'up & down joints' are fine. It is the longer sections which tend to become compromised.
BTW. I think my old eyes spy a military uniform brother of arms. Thanks for serving if my eyes see correctly.
Thanks for the help and diagram. Is this the BSR media reactor?
Now here’s the good news: From what I see, if you wanted your system running as soon as today, all you would have to do is (1) hook up the pump via a PVC pipe to half a union valve that is size-matched to the half a union you have hanging there open, and (2) point that one downflow pipe into the left-most portion of the sump. In other words, you very well may already have a fundamentally sound, workable system. Of course, next we want to talk about streamlining/improving things, right?
I'll go with what I have now to get it running so I can transfer the coral from my 36g tank to 125g. Then I'll work on replacing the old plumping within the next 2 weeks. Where do I put the Chemi Pure elite in the sump? That is a media reactor. BRS is a brand— Bulk Reef Supply. Go to their website and a) check out their reactors, and b) check out their videos on reactors, such as a segment from their series, ‘52 Weeks of Reefing.’ That should tell you just what your reactor is designed to run— such as carbon, etc.
So do you plan to just hook back up what you have for now, or would you like to start from scratch, beginning with new bulkheads? If so, I can complete a ‘new’ diagram for you that will be much like your old one, but tweaked. Just let me know.
Sounds good. I'll get that block. Pure elite is really good. Thanks for the help.
Sounds like a plan. I’ll probably draw you a refined diagram so you’ll have it for when you need it. The Chemi Pure is in bags, right? Then you want good flow over/into/around them, so drop them in where I wrote ‘MarinePure blocks’ on the sump diagram. I would still purchase them by the way; at least one.)
