You never listed how much to use per however many gallons
I did that for a reason. I will in future posts will work directly with the person and include dosing amounts.
I left that out because if this is used wrong there is severe detrimental consequences

Well, what ever they are, they are all over. In my reef and in the sand bed. Should I try and get a better pic of them?

That is diffidently not what I have. I'm glad I thought about sending you a pic before going through with this procedure..lol. Well, I guess it's a good thing that I do not have hydroids then! But now my quest for finding out what I have is back in full force. Thanks Todd.
Any by the way, do you have any idea what the pink stuff is in the other pics I posted here?

Not sure.. I just got done looking over the pictures you posted but what strikes me is the color.
If it were my guess it is the foundations of a sponge.

well that makes sense then, because they are only on what use to be the bottom of my rocks. I am in the process I redoing my aquascape and I found this stuff just on the bottom side of the rocks.

I have been getting a lot of questions about dosing.
This is what works best for me and my opinion based on trial and error.

1-4mg packet will treat 125 gallons.

I use this when using as a dip. 1 scoop per 3 gallons in a 5 gallon bucket

Most people should have these laying around from test kits (red sea)

Please be aware that the powder in the packet is not to be used in aquariums

UPDATE!
I may have just found a connection to fenbendazol which will lower the cost of tank treatments drastically!
Stay tuned!

I think they are called bread crumb sponge but I could be wrong on the common name. It is a sponge that grows in darker areas and have seen them in all sorts of color.

If you touch the white strings do they move or pull in?

They move. I have not seen them retracting when touched.

Well then they may be some sort of worm.
If they are on your hit list I can still rid of them but would need a macro picture of them.
It may take me some time to go through the 500+ pages to identify them but I'm sure I can come close.

I wish I had a photo of them when I had many - I was able to eliminate them manually after a tank-upgrade - mostly I just covered the ones on good rocks with a heaping measure of gel and aquastick glue - and then left the rocks to re-cure for a month before the tank upgrade. The photos linked in this thread didn't look like the communal hydroids I had. Really difficult to kill (at least for me in the past)

If it is a spaghetti worm they are harmless. Spaghetti worm usually have numerous elongate prostomial tentacles and they normally to stay put in one spot. I have never seen them with only a few tentacles like they have in the picture. Without a better picture it is hard to tell though.

Have you seen them actually harm anything? They could be a species of nematode worm if they move around and are a single strand. In my experience you can judge what something eats by where it lives for the most part. It looks like they are among algae so I would think they eat crustaceans that eat the algae or they eat detritus.

Has anyone tested the fenbendazol packets from amazon yet? I've got a rock almost covered with colonial hydroids and I can't pull it out to scrub.
