There are tons of people complaining about the g6 xr15’s par numbers Seems the 15 these days is for nano / smaller tanks.

The quanta bars I posted mimic t5 spread and spectrums and will provide valuable par and coverage. Excellent reviews on them here too

Don’t listen to anyone telling you the 15s won’t work. That’s nonsense.

Assuming you don’t have braces, you’re asking each XR15 to cover an 18*24 area. They are easily capable of this. How do I know? That’s exactly what mine are doing. I get super even coverage and can hit over 400 PAR at my top SPS. I’m between 2-250 PAR on the sand. That’s more than enough light for anything out there. If you’re really worried, grab a 57 or 66” Blade and you’re set

Nice tank!! 6 lights- sounds like exactly what everyone is saying... or 4 30, or add t5/bars

There’s a difference between things surviving and thriving. You got a blade or something between your 15’s on your tank to get them numbers.. maybe gen 4 radions could hit that in the sand but the newer 5 and 6 is really horrible about par! Lucky to get 50-75 in the sand.. on a over lap you might see 100.. look at Charlie’s frags little cube.. he had to run 3 - xr15’s over a 60gal cube to get the par numbers and results he wanted. That’s a 24x24 area sps dominated. It’s been documented and I’ve fallen into the 15 trap myself.

I don’t need the Blade for anything except I had it and love the violet look late at night. I get around 550 PAR with the Blade at 100%. I don’t run it past 70-80% in the day and drop the Radions back to 85-90%.

If you think my tank is surviving and not thriving, we have very different definitions.

I’ve owned every generation of Radions. I’ve PAR tested them all on my own tanks. I’m more than sure I understand how much light they’re putting out and how my own tank is doing.

I’m covering 72*36 with 6. Each 15 is covering 24*18. Just like the OP is and what I said in my post. 4 30s is 8 15s. Math, I know.

It’s really not that hard to follow along

I’d love to see a par reading of 200-250 in your sand.. I can barely achieve that with 250 w metal halides on an overlap. Is your tank 12” deep? lol.
I have 1000w of halides and reefbrites on my tank.. you mean to tell me a big bad xr15 is more powerful? Buhahahahah.

My 250w halides hit 250-300 PAR. Can’t remember if they were Radiums or Reef Brite 20k in this pic. They tested the same just different looks

IMG_0757.jpeg

Here is PAR from 14k Reef Brite 250w halides. Bulbs were pretty new. Like 1-2 weeks tops. This is my old 120 early on.

So yes, 2 XR15s easily outperform a 250w halide. This has been proven at length

I'll have to look more into these! Getting one or 2 to supplement my setup as opposed to more radions might be a good idea and would be cheaper than adding 2 or so radions by a long shot.

Since their spectra is fixed maybe the Reefcrest for my tank...I'll have to look at some images/videos now.

I think you will like them. These were designed to be the LED version of T5 bulbs.

agreed, not that hard to follow along- but I'll help you..
Ops 1st sentence stated the tank dimensions(72x24). Not sure where your 72"x18" came from. Nobody said his xr15s wouldn't work, they suggested 6 or add t5 supplement.
Then your 1st statement is not to listen to anybody saying 4 isnt sufficient, that he needs 3, then you show your 6 foot tank with 6 lights. :winking-face:

Lol

72/4 is 18. So 18*24 for each light. Again, not tough to follow there.

I showed 6 lights over 72*36. Each section of my tank is 24*36. Cut each section half and you get 24*18. Imagine that.

Math is hard.

Multiple people said they wouldn’t work and to sell them. :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

And Troy liked your poor math :zany-face:

I’m patiently waiting to see your par meter read 200-250 in the sand with just XR-15’s on…

OH MY BAD! You said 2-250 so that might be correct.. 50ish to 100 lol…

At work. Can't test while here. I have no issues showing you 200+ PAR on my sand bed when I get some time. Likely tomorrow.

LOL it isn't this difficult

Each section of my tank is 24x36. If you draw a line down the middle, you get 24x18. Not 18x18. Where did the other 6 inches go???

Heaven help us

Funny thing is the equation was wrong not the math. And no I was just poking fun also. I have no skin in the radion game anyways. I don’t doubt one bit the lights can cover that tank. I would also add bars though.
