How much and how thick of woid

I am building a metal stand for a 280 gal, how much wood between the metal and tank, one or two sheets 3/4?. Wood will be supported

Are you talking about inbetween the bottom of the tank and top of stand? Does your tank have the trim on the bottom?

Shouldn't make any difference. Your main concern is providing a completely level base for the tank to sit on, so the weight is supported evenly. The proper size tubing will accomplish that. The framing should line up with the tank support points.

It will if he has no bottom trim on the tank and the bottom glass will lay on the stand.
