Used to run my tank at a high alkalinity, around 10.4 -10.7.. a friend suggested trying to let it fall lower and see how things looked and things are much better around 8.4, which is where I'm aiming to keep it. I have a 32 gallon biocube and my alk tends to slide relatively quickly, somewhere around 0.1 dkh per day.
I have Seachem reef buffer, but sometimes when I use it, I add a bit too much and it shocks my coral. How much can I safely boost my alkalinity in one dose without shocking or risking anything? (0.4 dkh, 0.5 dkh)?
