If your able to check the backs and undersides (that isnt in the sand) of your rocks do so. If you have emerald crabs they are more than likely keeping the issue at bay and these pustules got away from them and made their way into your skimmer. If you have a sump Id check there as well, I know you said you have a hob skimmer but you never know what system some one has !

I have a HOB fudge as well with a rather large red mythrix crab in it. Ill check that next cleaning. A quick check under rocks and I didn't see anything. Strange with no new introductions that this has just popped up.

Algae seems to come from 'nowhere' some times. Be sure to update us if you ever find the source!
