Hey y'all, I am a new reefer just a week into cycling my 40 gal tank.

I noticed some white tendrils floating off of an area of what I assumed was dead rock from my LFS. I also spotted some tendrils on a piece of live rock next to it. The dead rock was previously used in someone else's tank but I'm not sure how recently that was.

Before adding the dead rock rock to my tank, I scrubbed it and soaked in tap water but didn't go as far as boiling it or applying chemical treatment.

Could this be something living or perhaps some dust/cat-hair that got in the tank?

Attaching my tank parameters in case it helps identify what could be growing in my very young tank!
