That’s a pretty thick sand bed. What are you getting for sifters?
Its honestly a little thick around the edges I need to do some management and get it in the middle of the structure again. The pump I used blew a lot of it to the edges. Id like to get a goby and pistol combo, not sure yet. Any suggestions?

Please tell us about your thoughts on the tank, stand and sump.
I have been struggling with 210 Aqueon, Red sea 1000 or IM 200 ext
210 to deep / 1000 to long / IM 200 just right?

That overall, was my thoughts. imo the IM is built strong, really enjoy the 30" width don't think id trade height or length for it. The stand i've read is not the greatest but I think its plenty for the weight, seems sturdy enough. Sump is lacking I think, down the road i may end up upgrading but it will do for now and allows enough room under the stand to put in a controller board on the front door and a calcium reactor or whatever I choose between it and the door.

My jawfish displaces every grain of sand. Even spits it into the power head. I believe he does it cause he knows it turns off when food comes . His “feed me now” routine. But the bed is clean.

How fast do horseshoes grow? Probably have to rehome eventually but that would look cool and sift well. So do many conchs. You might be able to do a spider in there.

Really enjoying this build! I’m just going to pretend it’s mine, I’ll be following until the end.
Thank you, this is for sure my dream tank. Really excited to get the lights on and move some livestock over. Here are some shots I took of my 40L a while back.

Make an offer. I’ll pack his sand for you. Tank always looks like a snow globe. It’s also the only inhabitant that needs Mysis. But that sand sure is mixed!
"snow globe" when you put it like that maybe a ill go a different route lol :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Quick update! HMS 73" arm came in and I test fitted 2 of my hydras above the tank using the hanging kit. Drilled a few small holes through the celling tiles to hide everything, pretty pleased with how it turned out. Wishing I had pulled the trigger on my 3rd hydra 64 when BRS had a sale. Next comes flow for the tank, thinking of doing the new AI Gyres one on each side and keep it all on the AI app. Anyone have an thoughts here? Waiting for blades to come back in stock as well. Going to go with them, praying I don't have the blue/white issue I keep reading about.

Also after filling with water I got seeded with a few rocks from my 40L's sump. Should be okay for fish but just to be sure I started dosing Bio-Digest. Really excited to try it out, also waiting on a pod order and extra bottle of frits to get this thing going, hoping to move my tang over this weekend if everything tests well. Let me know any thoughts.

Here's my favorite side from the scape! Hope everyone had a great few Holidays!

Congrats on the new tank. How are you going to suspend your lights? Are you planning on attaching them to the tank or suspending them from the ceiling?
Latest update showed how I did mine just figured Id give you a heads up! After considering all options this seems the cleanest. Let me know what you think.

UPDATE, added a 3rd Hydra 64, got my Tunze ato, I will get wire this weekend to extend it from my ATO reservoir in the other room. Also added in 2 Orbit 4's from Aqua illumination. Still playing with how i want to set them up. I really wanted to avoid having one on each side but it seems to give the best flow that I have found so far. Anyone with a peninsula similar to this size feel free to chime in. I tried vertical on each of the overflow but it moved a lot of sand around.

Livestock was added 1-13-24. I added a few snails from 2 other tanks in the house, moved over 2 Wyoming white clownfish (fitting for living in wyoming) and my Biota yellow tang. Any suggestions on what to add next?
