Hey does anyone dose iodide in their reef tank? I have read here and there it is good for soft corals and I was thinking about using it, I also have sharks which it's good for them although they probably won't use any of it in the water column. My corals are growing but slow it seems. I can't get an accurate nitrate/phosphate test as I'll get different results each test (hanna).

I've read that too because I wonder the same but I'm hesitant that it's needed. My IO salt has high iodine and I think that's enough for now because at the end of the day everything looks good. Brings me to the ol' if it ain't broke adage. But I'll follow to see what other say

Yes,
I keep mine 0.03-0.06ppm through dosing.
I use Seachem iodide.
With just I hint of light yellow, it’s used up in 3-4 days.
Salifert test fine for this parameter.
Both my Hanna’s have worked consistently for years.

Beautiful tank! I think maybe like all dosing it's when you hit that critical mass of consumption that it may be needed; depending on your starting levels..

most salt mixes contain decent amounts of Iodine, so if I were doing normal-ish water changes (10% a week), I wouldn't bother with dosing.

There’s no reason to not experiment with dosing iodide if it is low, as many people believe it is useful, but I did not find dosing iodide to be visibly useful in my system.
