Is it REALLY time to change my RODI filters?

OK, bare with me as this is my first time owning a RODI system. I have a couple of questions.

For reference, this is the BRS 5-stage system I have:

My questions...

1. From what I've read, the recommendation is to change out filters every 6 months. Today is 6 months since I started using this system. The TDS meter still reads 0 in both the "in" and "out" sides of the final DI resin and, as you can see, the DI resin is still dark so it hasn't changed color. Am I good to keep going with these filters? Or should I consider changing them out now?

Depends on use. Resin gets swapped when the color has all changed, rest of my filters get changes when almost brown. Maybe once a year or so on those. Just ensure you're flushing them every time before use.

When I fire up the filters I let them run into a drain until the TDS gets down to 0 before adding any water to my containers. Is that what you mean by flushing?

I have the same BRS unit. On top there is a bypass valve to help flush. I run that until my tds gets down to around 7 or so before flipping the valve to make RODI. Included are a pic of valve and my filter set for a change soon.

The trick is to change out the sediment and carbon filters before you see changes in your TDS meter.

If your membrane fails before you changed your carbon blocks... you probably waited too long. It is hard to advise on a particular number of months, depends on how much water you make and what exactly is in your source water.

I usually change my sediment and carbon stages whenever I start to see a pressure drop, my membranes whenever my rejection rate begins to decrease, and my di resin whenever my final output water goes above 0ppm.

If I were you I would change the sediment and carbon, because your sediment is dirty. There is no reason to replace your di.

0 Tds is good. I usually change my sediment filter when it looks dirty regadless of the TDS and the same with the Di I watch the color. Those replacement filters would be the same ones it came with new. Certainly if the TDS goes up you should change them.

I once tried to maximize the lifetime of my filters and ended up waiting too long and had some corals die (I suspect some chloramine was getting through).
Now I just change them every 6 months. A set of filters is cheaper than several corals.
As for which replacement kit to get, I just emailed BRS and asked them which one and they sent me a link.
