Hi guys, I wanted to check if this green patches on my fake purple rocks are a beginning of coralline.

I also have some green dots on the glass, very hard to scrape with magnets.

Can be tho, tank is quite new, 3 months.
Coraline won't start showing up until after the uglies are over with. At 3 months you're just getting started. Everything is going to turn green, then gha everywhere, then coraline is the usual progression.

Coralline will not just show up on it's own, it must be introduced into the tank by something. That is why I asked if anything in thank had it. Like snails shell? real live rock? Bottled coralline? Something, otherwise no. Yes it can indeed start to appear at 3 months, not likely, but possible, yes. It just has to have come in to the tank somehow.

Ahh, okay, well yes, it can be, but 3 months is very early on for coralline to show up. As Jekyl mentioned , there are many phases for a tank to go through first.

You tank will begin to get this light color green, pretty much everywhere. That will progress into other, more advanced forms of algae, Get a CUC, if it is just plain ole algae, they will take care it. If it is coralline, they will leave it alone.

Oh, just to clarify, green algae doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s gonna be bad?

Keep your params stable and let it ride. It will go through various stages of algae and most of them will come and go on their own.
