Hey everyone. My reefing adventure started August of 2022. I started with a crappy amazon light, and since upgraded to an AI Hydra 32 about 14 inches off the water surface. Last night I lowered it to 9 inches of the waters surface. The tank is a JBJ65. During the summer it has a net lid, and currently it has 2 glass panels for a lid.

It's a mixed reef. 2 acropora frags, 3 derasa clams, a lot of torches and other softies. I would like more acro. I have 'low light' monti cap THRIVING about 4 inches from the waters surface. I run the SAXY preset from the AI site, so the lights do get pretty bright, almost 100 percent at times.

So the monti cap thriving up top makes me think the single light is too weak.

Derasa clams seem to thrive in my tank

Maxima clams seem to die after a little while.

Everything else is growing but I'm wondering if another light is in my near future

My 2 acro frags seem to be thriving well.

What @TX_REEF says! Don't change a winning recipe.

If eventually you want to add corals that require more light than what your current settings allow, consider renting a PAR meter so that you can take a decision basis solid information.
