My Kole Tang has dots on his fins and around his mouth. I'm not sure why or what it is so I'm looking for advice. Maybe someone out there has had this on their fish before and could tell me how to treat it? It was hard for me to get a picture so sorry for the quality. The dots are a lot more visible when my moonlights are on. Its almost as if they glow. The dots are pretty small but big enough for me to know it isn't ich. All my parameters are in check. He's swimming around fine. He was the third fish added to the tank. The others are a yellow Coris wrasse and a Hector goby so I know it isn't from him being attacked. He's about the size of a sand dollar. I tried looking it up but I cant find anything about dots on tangs. Most of what I found was ich threads. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
K

It could be flukes or oodineum. He's looking kind of skinny also. Wish you had a better pic though.
For flukes and internal worms use Prazipro.
For ich and oodineum I use quick cure or cupramine and treat in a separate QT tank. I like to mix Furazone with the quick cure or cupramine. Proper aeration and clean seawater is a must for the QT.

Is there a way to upload videos from your cell phone? I have a video on my android but can't upload it. The video is a little more clear

It started like this and now it's down to one dot on his head, a dot on his top and lower dosal fin, and around his mouth.

Can't tell much from the pics, but based on your descriptions (i.e. dots larger than ich on the fins & mouth) I suspect this could be Lympho. Google images of "Lymphocystis" and read my description below. See if you think it matches.

Lymphocystis:

Symptoms - Lymphocystis appears as a white or beige colored cauliflower-like growth that usually starts on the fins and spines and sometimes spreads to the body. Initially it may be small (looks like ich), and then grows in size (which is how you know it’s not ich). Lympho is a virus that many fish carry for life. Fortunately, it is rarely fatal or even harmful to the fish, and symptoms will come and go.

Treatment options - No known cure or treatment exists. However, feeding vitamin-enriched foods and maintaining pristine water conditions may expedite the “going away” process.

Below is a pic I snagged off the net. You can see the large cluster circled, but Lympho is also below that (smaller white dots).

I'm hoping that's what it is. It sounds kinda similar to what he has. However I never noticed tiny dots just the blotches. I've had him for 3 days.

Day 1. He stayed close to the bottom of the sand, barely swam, and had rapid breathing. That's when I noticed the large blotches. I shut off my wave maker because I didn't think it was helping his cause as he was bouncing all over the place.

Day 2. He was still swimming close to the bottom of the tank, hiding behind rocks. I noticed the blotches were less. I watched him a lot to see if he was scratching them on the sandbed or on the rocks. He wasn't.

Day 3. I've been feeding him twice a day with a mixture of frozen food. He was skinny when I got him and I haven't witnessed him actually eating which is why I think he is still stressed or sick. I'm hoping it's stressed. However, he is swimming a little higher today and weaving in and out of my rockwork. His breathing isn't rapid. He has a total of 4 spots on him now and then some around his mouth.

Does this also sound like Lymphocysts? I'm not familiar with it.

It doesn't look like the cluster that is circled but it definitely looks like the lower dots presented under the cluster. Thanks for the picture.

Another pic of Lympho - smaller dots on the tail. It can be a standalone growth, the size of ich... or cluster up like what you saw above.

Always try to get fat fish, that are eating regularly.
Also it could possibly be oodinium. Shine a flashlight on him and see if you can see sprinkles of white/yellow sugar bits on his body and fins.

Ich and velvet in my experience often show on fins a few days before other parts of the fish. It looks like you dipped the fin in salt or sugar depending on which parasite
