Here’s a couple pics. I wanted the sides panels removable. They are held in place by cabinet magnets C810A06D-5C1C-4199-9EA7-488C85ABB6E8.jpeg 443272CD-2256-4C74-BDE4-70274215654A.jpeg DBC18CDF-212C-4AF3-9EA8-3B5EDFBAADC8.jpeg EADE9F51-104B-4F95-BEFF-E9106F6202BC.jpeg

This stand came out great! How did you setup the door on the front so it just pulls off? Also, what is your clearance from top of tank?

Clearance from the top of the sump to the brace is 8.75" and to the plywood under the stand is just over a foot.

The clearance from my tank to front lipof the hood is 9" because my wife didn't want the entire thing to be over 6 foot tall so the canopy was limited to 12"

He is my build thread if your interested

May not be exactly what you're looking for since mine is plumbed into a fish room but this is mine....

It's a modified version of the rocket engineer stand on my 180 dt (the fish room has 2 more stacks of 2 based on the same basic design). The top frame is made of 2x6 and the rest of the skeleton is 2x4s. The top is skinned using 3/4" ply (which you can't see since it's under the tank) and the sides are all skinned with 3/4 inch ply as well. The finish was done using vinyl wood-look laminate flooring which ended up looking very good and is waterproof.

The modification from the original RE design comes from the fact that I added a bar to the front of the tank. I attached another frame for that to the main stand and skinned it all together. There are more details in my build thread in my link if you're interested.

you did not mention your tank size, but from looking at your other posts, it looks like its a 40 breeder tank.
You can build one with no 2x4, just all plywood. I built one (for a smaller tank) that looks like Red Sea reefer and Elos tank stand.
diy is the way to go.

Sorry, it is a 40 breeder and I think it's going to have a 30g sump underneath. I'd be curious how you went about that while still supporting the weight. My main concern is spreading the weight due to it going in 2nd floor apartment

Thank you. The hex tank just happend to be the same height as my 110 and smaller. It was ment as a experiment with LED lighting. By the time I finished it LED fixtures were common. No need to build your own LED fixture now. I started it in 2008 but added water 3 years ago.

This came out amazing. I was thinking I would use 4x4 posts and 2x4 for the rest. I like the formica idea, really want something waterproof underneath just incase.

Interestingly of done right you could build a stand for any sized tank out of just plywood. It’s crazy how overbuilt our stands are (mine included) when you compare them to mass produced ones. Biggest I’ve seen someone do an all plywood stand is a 6 ft 125 I think
