Live rock: best way to flush out hitchhikers?

My rock comes today and I thought I read a post about dipping the rock in either high or low salinity to flush hitchhikers out, but can’t find it. What are your best ideas / go to tricks?

You can dip it but you risk killing off beneficial things, what kind of pests are on the rock?

I elevate any new ocean rock off the bottom of a bare tank, sometime for a few weeks, depending…
I look for crabs, fireworks et…. turn the rock over and repeat…
stuff that likes the dark will be on the bottom, remove whatever and turn over again…
certain wrasses and mollies are useful during the transition

Stick em directly in the tank. Hitchhikers are part of the fun. Why pay for live rock if you are going to dip the rock in acme killeverything juice?

Yea don’t want to kill anything. I’ll put it in a small tank just to observe for a couple days. Then in the tank it goes.

where is the rock coming from? I would get to know the hitchhikers from that area.
snapping shrimp are loud and annoying.
