Hello y'all, I'm following another thread about showing your low tech aquarium.

And this thread brought several question:
-What is in fact a low tech system?

It's having enough equipment to count in 5 fingers?
Low tech systems should use skimmer? Or surface skimmer?
Filtration as sump, canisters counts as well?
Dosers, probes, controllers? would be a no go?
Lights as T5, leds or the sun?

Let me know your opinion!

There's no right or wrong, the important thing is to hear your opinion.

I think my limit would be the basics that make life a little easier or adds stability to the tank. I do not consider top off, simple doser (timer and simple pump), wave makers, skimmer or sump high tech. To me these are basic and easy to setup and use. Any thing above that I would need to see a really good return on investment. I had the last tank set so I could leave for at least a week...was stable and doing well, until I tore it down to move to the east coast.
