Hey team I want to put some Marco rock on the bottom of the tank before I add sand. It’s a similar idea to what Aquascapers in freshwater tanks do, (bags of gravel to build up the base). The reason being that I’d like it to look as if it has deep sand bed(4”-5”) but in reality it’d be 1”-2” And I think it would avoid the potential of pockets of poisonous hydrogen sulfide. Any comments, complaints, compliments ?

It is recommended by some to add rock first then sand so nothing can compromise the rock while digging. I place egg crate first then rock then sand. That being said, if you want it to look like a 4 to 5 inch sand bed, well In places you will have a 4 to 5 inch sand bed,
