Marine Pure block instead of sand bed

Heard that it is harder to start a reef without sand bed because the lack of beneficial bacteria to grow on.

Can I go bare bottom (NO ROCK NO SAND) with Marine pure block ???

While you are at it (cycling) I’d strongly recommend mixing in actual rock from the ocean in lieu of (or in tandem with) bottled bacterial products …
