Tank is over a year and some odd months old. Everything is living and growing as best I could hope for.
Last couple of months, haven't done anything to the tank other than every thrird week 10+% water change and clean the glass with a magnet. Honestly, can't even remember the last time I had my arm in the tank. Everything has been running that good.
I've been running a very dry , dark skim. Only have to toss the collection cup once a week. 2 very thick and dark cups of skimmate.
This morning, I come down the skimmer is going absolute nuts. That nice dark skimmate has been replaced with tank clear tank water, which means a week worth of skimmate dumped back into the sump/tank. maybe the extra nitrates/phos will be good for the corals, running near 0 on both. Not overly concerned about that re-entering the system. I've closed the gate valve feeding the skimmer, reducing collection volume. See if I can remove a cup or two every 4-6 hours and remove what ever is trying to be removed, out of the tank.
Strange is all I can say. It's almost like something foreign has entered the tank and the skimmer is really going nuts. I do pull outside air in to the PS, but that's got a pre-filter and carbon filter. All corals and fish seem happy, it's just very strange that everything has been running so perfect and today something strange is happening. That's reef keeping though...
