Hi,
I've got a shallow reef that's 39x16x9" and around 30 gallons. Right now I'm using a Jebao OW-10 for flow but is looking at the Maxspect Gyre XF330.

Would it be too much for my very shallow tank? I'm afraid it's too powerful but the flow pattern it produces is what I'm after.

Beat regards /Jonas

I have the original 150 in a 120 gal 4'×2'x2 I can only run mine on 2 has great circulation . In your tank you may only be able to run at 1 .

Put on 1 cage and impeller forward, and 1 cage and impeller in reverse. Then run in alternating gyre mode. This cuts the forward power in half.

By 2 you mean at 2%? If I were to pay 299$ for a pump and then restricted to only a percent or two I think it's a bad idea :(

Ah alright. I'm going to check that out. Seema like I have to purchase a reverse kit then huh?

The sand would be my only concern
That's another of my worries. Sandstorm isn't nice..

I think it would be overkill. If you really want the pump, though, you could change the setting from Xf330 to Xf350 on the controller and it will cut the power down.

Okey, so that's possible. I was hoping to be able to run the pump at 20-30% at least but if that's not an option I might as well look at other pumps :(

Did your gyre come with 2 sets of cages?

What type of sand do you have? I am working on setting up a 48x24x10. Looking for inspiration and ideas... Yours is looking great.
