Hello all happy holidays, I am having some low ph issues on my nuvo 20 aio. When I bought the tank used one of the things it came with was a media reactor, I was wondering is there any media I could put inside the reactor to help raise the ph? I was thinking about getting a skimmer to help with ph and nutrient export but if I can raise with media and something I already have I’d prefer to do that thank you in advance!

You need some "negative ion beads" to gather up H+ ions and possibly increase tank pH. I don't think they make a media that will work but you never know what modern reefing companies will offer?

I'm not a chemist, perhaps @Randy Holmes-Farley can provide a definitive answer on this media question?

What’s low to you?
Many low PH readings result from hobby grade test inaccuracy.
Some waste a ton of money to fix something which is usually not broken, but maybe, misunderstood.
Just a thought.

Sodium bicarbonate works as does fresh air from outside, use of algae scrubber and use of macro algae.
How are you testing the ph level and what type of water source are you using

They have not been the most reliable
Double check with manual ph test to confirm accuracy

Sodium bicarbonate works
Sodium bicarbonate slightly lowers pH.

Dosing sodium carbonate (soda ash) or Sodium hydroxide is a great way to dose alkalinity and increase pH.

Kalkwasser (calcium hydroxide) maintains alkalinity and calcium, and it also increases pH.

The hydroxides have the highest pH boost of all additives we can dose in reef tanks (2x more than carbonate per unit of alk added).

Im hoping with a skimmer the ph will raise slightly during the day and enough to keep 8.3ish
