Are the m80 ballasts really the holy grail of ballasts for running Radiums or Phoenix bulbs? Are they only magnetic or both?
I would like to run a 250 14k phoenix or 20K radium in my bilux fixture and want to make sure I have the best ballast for the job.
Currently I have two Ice cap electronic ballasts?

Thank you for your opinions.

I think the m80 is a cap and coil ballast imo-not worth the $$
isnt Icecap an electronic ballast? no heat,no loss of power....

thats what I thought. if you have an ielectronic ballast keep it or upgrade to a digital ballast no point in downgrading...

The answer to your question is yes, the m80 ballast is the one you want to use for a radium bulb. But hqi ballasts will run the 250w radium to spec as well.

I agree, for those bulbs, the M80 is the Ballast you want to use.
Or, using a selectable electronic ballast will work as well.

Nature, if u choose to run 250w go with lumatek LM250, it has option to overdrive a bulb by 10%...best bang for a buck.
