EC or electrical conductivity is directly related to total dissolved solids or TDS. TDS meters function on the principals of electrical conductivity. An EC measurement is commonly used to estimate TDS based on the assumption that solids are predominantly ionic in nature and the relationship between dissolved ions and conductivity is known. If your RODI water is reading 10 µS/cm EC then that would be approximately 5ppm TDS.
