I've always wanted a 6' tank but never had the room. Recently moved into a new house so of course time to upgrade, lol. I bought the 180 and stand off of a fellow reefer. The 180 has never had water in it. I had a friend of mine build me a canopy and refinish the stand. We went with a furniture quality stand and canopy. Turned out excellent. The front of the canopy lifts up to access lighting and for easy coral/live rock placement. Most likely wont get wet until spring. I have alot to do. I added gas struts to the canopy and hung my 4' reefbreeder led light. Sump is going in my basement

Beautiful tank and stand, I can't wait to follow your progress. I love the struts for the canopy.

Here is my monster sump.. it's a custom built sump 150g tank. It will "only" have about 100g of water in it. It is a beast, 1/2" glass. I got it off of a shop closing down.

Looking into return pumps.. I do have two reeflo barracuda pumps but I'm really leaning towards a DC jebao 20000 pump. I will have about 14' of head pressure, I think a dct 20000 pump will handle that no problem.

I'm also going to add two 60" T5 bulbs with a BRS retro fit kit. I'll run ATI bulbs, probably a blue plus and a coral plus

I also decided on a different canopy for my tank... I just couldn't get used to a totally closed top. I built a floating canopy. I love the look! Hung my 4' reefbreeder led light and a 165w black box.. next up plumbing..

Nice canopy! How did you suspend it? Looks like it is somehow attached to the back of the stand? I need to do something similar but I cannot move the stand since it's full.

Yep 2 x 4s are just screwed into the stand. The light is held up by a 6' piece of 1x with hooks drilled/glued into it. They just sit on top of the 2 x 4's. Pretty simple really.

Freshwater test underway.. So far so good, no leaks and everything is working as expected. That jebao 20000 is an absolute monster.. I have it at 50% and there is still more flow as my old tank. At full power its literally spraying water out of my return nozzles. My only concern is the height of my drain pipe. Should I be concerned? This is how it came in the overflow kit. I killed the power and still have tons of room in my mammoth sump. I love having the sump in the basement so much cleaner looking and easy access to all equipment.

Check valve should be above line for manifold. If water pressure stops water will continue to drain threw the manifold lines

I realized that after it was all glued.. Lol. Both returns have siphon breaks and two nozzles are a tad out of the water so not much water will return to the sump. When I killed the power I opened up the manifolds to let that water into the sump to test worse case scenario.

Well tank is up and running.. Picked up a pair of ORA misbar naked clowns and away we are cycling. I am using Fritz turbo start 900 with a bottle of ammonia from Dr Tims. Not 100% on the rock work but so far I'm digging it.
