People seem to get caught up either the $ in front of the glass. Utter chaos and Rastas have some of the best colors in anybody’s tank imo‍♂️ also seem to get get caught up with the names lol. People love zoa names lol

Paly grandis

Show me another Zoa/palythoa that is the same size. It is by far the most standout and unique. But it’s also the most hazardous to frag

And they come in great shades of green to yellow.

I agree.
My favorites Utter chaos & Rasta captain americas sopranos Valentine’s Day massacres still hold up there with the newest variant Zoa/palys and they’ve been around a few decades now.

Too expensive to waste money on the latest fad or fashion, or "Ooh, that's amazing, I gotta have it!!!" Better to find the zoa that would look best with the other zoas/corals in your tank and add that one instead.

One that has several polyps on the plug, not just 2 or 3. Bright colors and inexpensive. If it has yellow in it, I'll pay a little more.

Names mean nothing. Call them all Chuck for all I care.

Grandis are one of my favorites due to the sheer size and patterns, this is my colony that started as 8.

These ones are about 3/4” polyps but have a nice metallic green look

Probably an unpopular opinion but they don’t do it for me. There are so many gorgeous zoa morphs out there that don’t cost anywhere nearly as much and in my narrow point of view are much prettier.

I have never seen grandis up for sale and I’m worried about having them shipped. Really gorgeous colony!

I’m afraid of them getting stressed out and releasing toxins.

I find them very durable, my colony started as 16. The seller wanted 300$. At the time we were both a little short on money. We discussed and found a common ground - and seller offered to split the colony and sell 8 for 150. I asked how they would frag it and they said “very carefully with gloves and eye protection”

The fragging was a success and a few days later they shipped me 8 on a tile and they arrived fine. I did not use any of the shipping water and just floated to temp acclimate and then using gloves I literally just dropped them into the tank. A few hours later I moved them to a desired location and they have remained there since

They have survived tank crashes and extreme neglect. Here is a pic 2 years ago during a extreme tank neglect period, they are open and happy

Grandis won’t present any issue when shipped. I frag them occasionally and they are the quintessential paly. They weep copious amounts of fluid when fragged but heal well and don’t otherwise present an issue when added to a display.

Spellbinders are pretty awesome and hard to find these days. They’re on my ISO list, if anyone has frags shoot me a message lol.

Strats were a unicorn while indo was shut down. It’s funny to see people’s response these days. In the same vein mind trick zoas were in European collections for years before they made it to the us. Now, they’re widely available.

In the end, it’s a matter of what speaks to you. For my wife, it’s a healthy colony of goblins on fire. For me, it’ll always be hallucinations.
