Hey all! My name is Britni and I began this addictive hobby Feburary 19th 2016! bought a 40g i am still running today.
(pardon the GHA.. working on that now..)
well i decided i wanted to upgrade and jumped all in with no turning back! June 19th I bought a 250g Double Deep BRAND NEW with starphire glass, dual corner overflows, new 40g breeder sump, simple led lights, and canopy and stand for 1k.
too good of an offer to pass up in my book. Drove 6.5hrs round trip across florida to get it.
well got the big tank now comes all the big expenses lol. wanted to get a custom sump, big skimmers are expensive, all the rock, sand, plumbing fixtures, and everything else actually needed to start this project up was gonna cost a bit. another 4.6k to be exact HAHA.. wellllll my poor husband had a heart attack when he heard that number. We decided I would get it going once we received our tax return this coming year! =] Feels like an eternity tho it's quickly approaching! I'll list my current list of purchases (which will be fun to come back to and compare once its set up haha!
250DD
Marineland Starphire glass
Dual corner overflows 1" drains
58x18x18 custom sump (not sure who by yet)
Nyos Quantum 220 skimmer
Jebao DTX 15000 Return
x2 Jebao CP-40 wavemaker
x2 Jebao RW-15
ATI sunpower 80w 6bulb T5 fixture
300lbs of dry cleaned live rock
300lbs tropic eden sand
red sea coral pro salt
Here's the process getting the tank in. the tank had no problem fitting through my door. good thing as I measured for it to get through. too bad i didnt think ahead and do the same with the stand!... the stand was 36"tall (fine) 39" deep (BAD) by 60"long. (give ya a hint. my doorway was only 36" wide... SOOO plan B
we tore out my screen on my florida room!
Then came time for the tank... honestly we didnt even wanna attempt to take it out of the trailer.. weighs 600+lbs empty
stared at it for hours... no one wanted to try and pick it up... didnt end up getting pictures of our simple machine we used to get it in through the front door but it was a sight im SURE...
it then sat on our livingroom floor like this for what felt like WEEKS!
4 people walked around this beast of a tank on the floor for 3 days.
my 2 kids enjoyed playing in its emptyness for those days tho.
finally got enough guys to get this monster onto its stand
THEN if not to stare the bull right in the horns I am mid purchasing a 125g that I am going to set up to be a clown harem tank! BTAS AND CLOWNS EVERYWHEREEEE hehe Im SUPER excited for BOTH these tanks to get going! but know its gonna be a long next year coming. LOTS of work and the month ive had this beautiful room ornament has been a test of patients with only another half a year to go... HURRY TAX SEASON HURRY!!
Open to any comments/ideas for any of the tanks =] want to do it right the first time (hence why the bills are so high for the build..lol)
