A beautiful photo of a Odontonia katoi shrimp, in her bed, in the belly of an ascidian:

Ah Man, That is SO COOL! So the transparent lobster just come & goes ! Please do tell us how does one handles a tiny little thing like that.
I wonder if he can enter thru one & leave thru the other. LOL
Luck. Dumb luck.
Oh, uh, I used the Froce.
Pulled it off by hand from the bottom. Got it to the top and into the mesh bag.
Installation was opposite. Lol.
I put the bag closer, coaxed and used the force to get it out into my hand , and gently got it onto the Tunic.
No clue. Oddly , I did both left handed.

From what I found the Shrimp just lives inside the "tube" and steals food from the Tunicate. The shrimp doesn't seem to do anything in return.
My guess is , some stuff you don’t want in your gut. Esp if it’s live.
So now there’s a watch dog. Both live foods like that and then the stolen and then digested foods go right back to the tunicate.
Less stealing , more like borrowing. Lol.

That’s is a beutiful picture.
I just couldn’t get a setup in time.
:(
I believe the photograph was made with a surgical endoscope, there would be no angle to photograph it on top with another instrument.

Ahahaha. I’d take that as a challenge.
https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/saltyfilmfolks-my-pictures-thread.232226/

I just couldn’t get the right container and the right lights going.
No, I probably couldn’t get it in the tunicate.
I already knew your photo thread, you are an excellent photographer, in every way, and you make wonderful photos! Congratulations! But to get pictures like this, from the inside of a tunicate, without hurting it, you need a very fine instrument, similar to this:

Flexible_Cystoscope.35065529_std.jpg

It is a fiber optic cystoscope, for examination and procedures in the human bladder, able to obtain high resolution images, such as the one below:

Prostatic_Urethra.1990643_std.jpg

Its external diameter is 3/16 "and its lens is lateral and of great power of increase, which allows to visualize any detail.

Obviously, it is a very expensive tool to dedicate only to the hobby, but it exists.

There are very few published studies on this symbiotic relationship of the crustaceans of the genus Odontonia sp with the tunicates ... and I think perhaps this case, of keeping a tunicate with your guest in an aquarium, may be unique in the world ...

Great luck, out of all doubt!

May they adapt and live a long and prosperous life!

Thank you all. Yea, it’s a once in a lifetime experience. Reefing has brought me more than few. So Im glad I could share.

Fingers crossed. Happy my tank is kinda set up for it already.

And yep, I got it local in San Diego.
So support your local fish store if you can!
