maybe a stupid question but does gravity take the water down and then you use a pump to push it up in a seperate tube?

yes, you can have a 500 gallon per hour pump and a 600 gallon per hour overflow with no problem because it will only overflow what the pump puts into the tank. But if you have a 800 gph pump and a 600 gph overflow you will have big mess.

for the 15 I'm thinking about custom making a sump like 3.5 ft tall 18" deep and 7.5 inches wide it'll be around 25g and basically be a macro algae farm maybe even a peacock mantis tank no fish just display sump to fit inbetween my dressers idk though it depends lighting would prolly be hard which i just realized... just thought of it like an hour ago ha
