Hello, my name is Larry Lowman and I have always wanted to start a saltwater tank,so my girlfriend bought me one for Christmas. Awesome present. Its a Deep Blue 57 gallon rimless tank. It has a 10 gallon sump with bio balls and mini g skimmer. I put in 25 lbs live rock and 60 lbs live sand. I read a little online and bought a book to get started. I have found out that I don't know as much as I thought I did. I started my tank the Sunday before Christmas and have already found out how much enjoyment can come out the hobby. I am just really grateful for all the help that the members have provided. Hopefully, in the future I can pay it forward..

A little about myself, I'm 41 and have no children. The reason I wanted the tank is to pass my free time productively. I work in a lab for an insulation company, while trying to go back to school and finish my degree in accounting. Kind of burnt out on the school thing though, trying to recharge with a new hobby. I only work half the month so I have some time to kill. I used to play sports and enjoyed outside activities but had back surgery and don't get around as well I used too.

I hope to be as helpful in the future, as some of the members have already been to me. thanks again for all the advice.

Welcome to R2r. If you are planning on a reef tank ditch the bio balls. If you are doing a fish only you can leave them.
