Anyone pick up a RD5 Eco or RD X yet? RD X looks a lot like a chinese pumps wondering if these are getting contract made for them, especially being they are 1/3 to 1/4 price of and RD3 speedy. I see they have replaced the pumps on BK minis with the RDX but they are still the same price using a much cheaper pump? ;Bookworm

But what came first the Duck or the Duckegg?
Who cares if some of these cheaper RE pumps are produced in China. They still have to live up to the quality standards and reputation of the RE brand. That the runts of the production line are sold under a different Chinese or other brandname at lower prices isn't a bad thing.

Also curious ... I was planning an RD5 Eco since they were so affordable, but if they're just white label Chinese pumps they suddenly seem a lot less attractive. ;Bored

Kevin, Im pretty sure this is more like the RD X, not the RD 5 Eco. That being said the price that Royal Exclusiv is charging is not terribly out of line compared to other pump manufacturers using the same pumps. Also both of these pumps do seem to have cousins with a proven track record of reliability.

Yes! Got confused with the different pumps.
It should be the RD X .
Pricing is very competitive with other major brands.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
