I didn’t know what a ‘cryptic zone’ was so had to google. :) where did you buy your Surf 4 from?
I got it on sale at premium aquatics.
The new one little light spill compared to previous Ice Cap I had
If only they made it black. Pics I saw it was glowing and I need as little light as possible. That was the only reason I passed.

Mine gives off a soft lighting and if it were a problem, I had considered either black acrylic on the outside or a partial black housing 3-D printed to serve as a slide over hood

BRS don’t have the large one. So think I will
Need to go with the medium which is right on the cusp of my new aquarium volume.

I absolutely love mine and in fact just cleaned it an hour ago. This is after three weeks from last cleaning. I have the large one.

Have you got the large ‘pro’ or the plumbed version? I’m assuming pro?

Ya my lfs offered me a very good cash deal on one and I considered getting one and trying to black it out but decided not to chance it. I'm happy with the surf so far. I had mixed feelings but am actually liking the floating design. It takes up less space in the sump area. I haven't harvested yet but had algae growing in about 2 weeks on a new system.

Sorry I forgot to quote you @Devaji

It's working well. I can't hear it now that algae is growing unless I stuck my head inside. I went with 2 Danner AP 4 pumps. It's only been a month and a half and I've already harvested some yesterday. This is after pulling some out
