Newbie - cycling what is this film?

Hello friends,

First tank and new to the hobby. I'm a few days into the cycling and I see this film at the water line. It's foamy. Any help would be much appreciated.

it could be salt creep; as the water evaporates it leaves salt behind; that salt will accumulate around the edges.
Have you topped up your tank with RODI water to compensate?
The salt will re-dissolve into the fresh water added to keep the tank at the same level and the salinity will remain constant.

Even a simple gravity ato wil work if the tank is small enough

Thanks I'm only working with a 20 gallon tank so that helps alot

Lol lol that's how I was looking yesterday. I just started running it about 4 days ago. Yes I have live sand and live rocks

That's More than likely the foam residue left over from the live sand
