Is there any consensus on whether this material is a suitable filter medium and whether it's safe for fish or will leave trace chemicals/elements in my aquarium? I cannot find anything suggesting it is fire retardant or contains any chemicals or ingredients other than that it is 100% polyester which I assume to be safe. Any thoughts advice? It is just so cheap and plentiful at Walmart.
To set the stage I am cleaning and initializing my old 75 gallon Reef tank from 10 years ago and was hoping to use this in a canister filter to slowly clean particulate dust and grime accumulated from sitting in my mom's garage in the interim. So I will not be introducing it immediately into a thriving marine environment or anything.

Anyone ever use it?
