# of clowns in a 280gallon

wondering if you think u can get away with 4 clowns in a 280? No anemones to fight over. Think it's possible they will split off into 2 pairs since there is so much tank and rock work?

Nope 2 max apparently....A harem tank is possible but you would need many nems and clowns from the same clutch/type. I've heard clown pairs fighting in very large systems... Like 700g.

That said I've never done it ...just heard/read about it.

there are people out there that have a whole lot more then 4 in smaller tanks. You would have to keep an eye on them to see if they do pair up. You might put them in there & they all go their different ways.

If you go to your LFS and they have a tank full of clowns, you can get them from there, My LFS, (Artistic Aquariums), has a Red Sea 900xxl with about 100 clowns!! in it. They get along pretty good as they are all from the same brood.

It is common to have multiple pairs in a large tank. i would try to stick with bonded pairs myself. No maroons.

yes entire harem in since feb 20th ,15 total,0 losses,lil bit of chasing between gladiators and Wyoming white females ,nothing major,in 60 breeder
