A nice 60° night making good use of it polishing out the sun domes for the reef tank.

How many reef tank hobbyists can say they service aspects of their tank from top of the roof?

Some continued fall maintenance of the sunlight system.

I continue to have issue with one of my domes constantly building up a cloudy hazy discolored look within just a few months. Looks like it's time to reach out to Sun Dome.

How’s the sohal doing with aggression? I bet it is stunning under natural day light, also have you ever measured to see what PAR you have?

The Sohal is stunning and has been doing well, every once in awhile there might be a little flare-up between him and my blonde Naso other than that doesn't seem to bother anyone else. My LFS just got in a very large Achilles Tang, I had to walk away. Don't want to attempt fate

As for par readings at the surface I'm getting in the 2000s it can change in an instant it is constantly fluctuating. Translates into about 300 at the sand bed. I'll be taking some winter Par readings a little later in the month or early January.

Greeting friends, hoping everyone had a blessed holiday season, with the new year moving right along in a blink of an eye we are almost in February. Finally had some time to post a quick video.

That sohal is getting some gorgeous streamers on his tail, how is he with your angels?

The Sohal is one of my favorites, other than a little flare up with the Naso and the Sailfin, Sailfin being the aggressor. The Sohal has been well behaved with the others. Flare-ups usually occur if I'm late with a feeding.

Wow… is all I can say, amazing build. This now has me conflicted for choice between radion pro vs blue. The natural look is stunning!
I recommend going for the pro, they’re already quite blue and some guys who I know went with the blue wish they went for the pros.

This setup looks F A N T A S T I C !!!

Then I think about husbandry and all the work involved in a tank that size, it kind of lets the air out of the balloon a bit.

What is your maintenance strategy?

Thanks!

You'd be surprised the regular maintenance is quite minimal once you have a well-balanced cleanup crew. Very rarely do I need to do anything with the rock structure or sand, clean up crew makes really easy work of anything left behind.

Couple times a week I change filter socks (50 micron) if I ever decide to add a filter mat this could be automated as well.

I dose bacteria weekly and liquid carbon 12x daily (automated)

Do about a 10% water change a week, just because. (Automated through the skimmer, takes about 20 minutes )

Clean the acrylic once a week.

About twice a year I go in the roof and polish the sun domes.

I feed at least 4x a day on the weekends feed even more because I'm home.

I do have a ton of water movement and a skimmer that turns the tank about 10x an hour.

Losing my trusted companion Stella this past year I've been searching for a rescue Australian Shepherd for the last couple months. After having a few meetups where things just didn't work out, I finally found one that I can call my own.

I'd like to introduce Starla to the reef hobby, my new buddy!
