I'm going to set up a 40B AIO and I'm going to use the Current USA Orbit Marine Loop system w/ wavemakers and the return pump. My question is for a mix reef tank. What size lights should I get 24"- 36" or the 36"- 48"?

Thank You for your time.

There are ton of better options. The current lights are very weak for the price. If you do get them, get two of the 36 inch.

To me, mixed reef would mean some SPS. I wouldn't used a Current light for that. Looks like all 36" models are only 36 watts?

yea but "Dual" 36"-48" is 72 W total (2 lights) and 90 degree lenses.
Should be "use-able" for stuff.. ;)
At 100% theoretically should ht about 100 PAR at the substrate level.

$400 for two weak lights
Better off getting an AI blade for that price

Yea but o/p wants to go with a "system". As such best to advise what said system could "do" and not do.
Except for giving a "guesstimate" of par output, rest is up to others..
They could get a few Nicrews as well for cheaper.
2 AI Primes on sale as well.

A little more than your budget but a reefbreeder photon 32 would be a nice light for a 40g breeder I think :thinking-face:
They've been on sale for around $600 recently.

EDIT: not part of the orbit system but I'm not sure staying in a certain system is worth sacrificing good lighting for, it's not like you have to go in and change settings a lot once they're dialed in. Lighting is one of those too much is just enough items for me as they can just be dialed down but you can't get more out of them than they have the ability to deliver.

budget is around $400. I probably could go as $500.
You could do the following

2 noopsyche k7 mini

2-3 reebrite lumilite pro's

2 quantas

2 AI blades

1 maxspect razor

2 maxspect 65w jumps

3 maxpect 30w jumps

I believe I'm going to go with the AI Blades. 2 grows and 1 glow. Why you ask? I just watched a BRS video that they tested multi light fixtures to be like the sky and sun. It happens that the Blades match it perfectly. the spectrum was right with these lights. Later down the road I may add a kessel or a hydra to the mix. I do have one question. can you grow sps with the Blades. I know that these lights are out of my budget but I can get the grow and as soon as I can get the glow. I think I'll be using these lights on my future tanks as well. What do you think?

I wouldn't use BRS infomercials to pick my lighting choice. The same company owns BRS and AI.
