So I have a protium skimmer that came with my tank. I’ve read and seen videos saying it isn’t a good one and some saying it works great. It is the coralife small skimmer. I had not installed it but then read if I want to do corals it was important so I installed it this morning.

Having never installed one before does this level of bubbles look right?

Thanks .... and now I have to read more. Wet skimming? Vs dry? This is the best part of doing this with my students all the learning.

Ok read a bit quickly dry skimming seems to allow More stability in the system. So to do that would I just lower the air so the Bible’s are a bit lower? How far below the rim should it be to skim and not just idle?

Bubble should generally be under half in the neck. If skimming doesn't appear to be doing much, then you can raise them up in the neck more.

I see what you mean went and checked it this morning and just had a cup full of water. I turned the bubbles down to about half way in the neck and will check again this afternoon

Yea, you will be able to fine tune it easy enough now.

I have discovered that the regulator valve that comes with this skimmer is let’s say “not the best” it is very difficult to dial it in it is basically off or on. Took a long time to get the half neck adjustment to stick. Think I may need to find a different valve and replace this one

Is it possible to raise the skimmer in that chamber?
