Head and lateral line erosion seems to be common in purple tangs.
Give it a big, disease and stress free tank, and feed it lots of quality foods like nori and mysis. Some folks do think that vitamins like Selcon do help.
This generally happens with issues associated with water quality and insufficient dietary requirements (vitamin deficiency).

Feed at minimum:
Nori basted with garlic extract
Formula 2 Flake and frozen
Mysis shrimp
Plankton
LRS Herbivore diet
- ADD GARLIC AND SELCON TO ITS' FOOD WEEKLY
- REDUCE COPPER AND DO RUN CARBON SUCH AS CHEMIPURE OR CHEMIPURE BLUE

Probably. I would suggest take a good size water sample to trusted LFS and have them test for you for comparison and verification of parametersDealing with inaccurate results with cuz a lot of problems
Hanna checker is LR I got what should I do I mistakenly bought a wrong one any ideas
My purple tang has been in quarantine with copper more times than I would like to admit. Every single time my purple went into copper, it got HLLE. And within weeks of going back into the display tank, HLLE is gone. Same food, same everything. Only difference is the copper. I’d make sure the parasite is dealt with, and keep the copper at therapeutic levels. The HLLE will resolve itself once back in the main tank.To much Copper can cause it.

Try diluting the sample half and half with RODI water.
