Hi All,
I was after some help please,

I have just upgraded to a Red Sea reefer G2 Max 425ltr.

Now I was hoping to now use my old tank as a quarantine tank, it’s 20 gallons.

My new G2 max comes complete with all Red Sea equipment.
so I can use my old set up as a quarantine tank.
My question is do I need to use my skimmer and my Nero 5 wavemaker for the quarantine tank ?

I will be using the light the filter system heater and pump.
All the rocks and substrate will be removed.

Also when you have nothing to quarantine do you leave the tank running as normal or do you shut it down and leave it idle ?

Sorry if the questions are stupid but I don’t want to get it wrong

Many thanks

Not using the filter system and it is empty and clean. I would just shut the tank down until needed. Then refill with fresh salt water. There is really no need for a filter system if you do very frequient water changes in a qt tank. If you use any chemicals that will contaminate and prob kill any bacteria in the filter.
