Sitting up my first quarantine tank.. IT's a 20 gallon high.. I have two HOB filters, one rated for 20 gallons the other for 30. Will this be enough flow, or should I forget them and get a power head? If I were to sue the filters Should I run some filter media in my Display Tank for a week or two before I bring the new fish home?

The lights are just The light that came with the tank, I'm guessing it will be good enough for this process.

Anything else I need to add?

I just set mine up. Its a 20 high I guess as well.

-tank
-glass lid ( evap and prevents jumping)
-heater
-filter with filter floss seeded from tank or sponge filter
-Thermometer
-something to hide in (I have some pvc and a plastic pail on its side)

I also have the back and sides blacked out with paper. And then a laminated black paper on front.

Tank is lit dimly from the top from light in the room from frag tank.

Just be sure to test water for amonia regularly.

Not sure what your medicating with but this is my first time as well and I am doing the following.

Set up with tank water

Day 1 rest
Day 2 start parazapro - for 20 gal you dose 1 tsp
Day 7- do a 25 to 50% water change with new saltwater
- redose parazapro
- start cuprimine
Day 21 acclimate fish to display.

This is what I found online and a local hobyist said they did something similar.

Just do w/c if amonia spikes and remember to re dose meds if you do a w/c

Test copper and top off evap as needed.

Any critisism on my method would be great as well.

Thanks for the information. I don't run any sponges on my main tank, but do run filter socks.. Where would I put the filter media I want to seed the quarantine tank with?

Thanks again.

Anywhere in your sump I guess. I use filter floss so I can toss it every time. I have read you can use live rock and some bacteria will still live through the copper
