I recently upgraded from a 25 gallon to a 60 gallon. My RBTA took a trip through the powerhead a few days ago. Kind of looked like it was filleted. Seems to be recovering OK, but half of it has slithered through the slits of the isolation container. I can't tell for sure where the foot is or the mouth, or whether it is splitting. Any ideas on what to do? Can I cut it into two pieces, or try to pull it back through the slit? If it is splitting on its own, I don't want the escapee to take another trip through the powerhead!

Yikes.

I have no idea what's happening there.

I would just leave it, but if there's a concern of it going into the power head again, and it already has, then why hasn't anything been done to prevent it?

I recommend getting something like mesh to cover the side.

Besr course of action is to just observe. If you want to take an additional step figure out how to get some cipro in case infection happens.

I ordered a guard for the powerhead. Unfortunately I cannot order the postal system to move faster.

Nem guards should be installed before they try to become sushi not after. Hopefully it will recover for you but you better run carbon because they release toxins when injured and or dying.

Is it possible to lower the flow it produces or turn it off until you get it?
