Per the video, hoping to see if there are any Genicanthus experts out there. Would you feel comfortable removing the new female from the isolation box?
It’s taken a year (since my last pair perished in my vacation crash), but I was recently able to source a second G. semifasciatus female and have had her in an isolation box for the last day, wanting to gauge the established female’s reaction (established female has been with me for 4 months).
I’ve heard stories about how the dominant and transitioning female (and males) can be extremely aggressive to their partner. My first pair, the established female was twice as large as the new one and took similar interest as being shown in the video. The interest lasted for a day, then subsided. Ultimately it was a peaceful introduction and I had a male semifasciatus within weeks.
These two are essentially the same size and the new female seemed more reactionary than I’d expected, though seems to have calmed down today.
