I've had my Red Sea Max E-170 AIO for a few years. I've replaced the stock skimmer with a Tunze 9004 because the built in was too loud, I've added an optical ATO, Wavemaker, DC return pump and Neptune Apex controller system. I'm having trouble keeping nutrients low and would like the extra filtration of a sump and hopefully a chaeto refugium for nutrient export. I'm looking for build advice before I start buying and piecing it together. Here are some questions:

- Is the Red Sea conversion kit the right option?
- Should I upgrade the down-valve before installing? Which do you recommend?
- Any recommendations for which return pump and protein skimmer I should buy?
- Is there a spot for the refugium? Any special advice there?
- Any considerations to keep things quiet?

Any more advice / tips before I get started?

I know that's a lot of questions, but I'd like to avoid big expensive mistakes.
