Soooo...today the electric company was working near our house and cut the power for a couple of hours. Luckily I was home and ran to the store to go get a couple of battery operated air pumps. In my frustration I IM'd @neptune asking them why they have not come out with a battery option. Their response was a little infuriating. I like my apex, but in all honesty I wish another company would come a long and making a controller a lot simpler than an apex.

This was their response

Why should I have to buy a computer back up for my aquarium? Why isn't one of the leaders in aquarium controllers making a battery backup for their whole system.

I find it rather odd that it wasn't one of their first products. There are still things I don't understand about Neptune, like why their system isn't wireless I'll never understand.

@gettaReef that is probably true, but my main frustration is the "programming" I would rather pay for something that I can just plug in and know it will just work, like the ecotech' for example

I hear the new "Fishbit" is exactly that, potentially you could sell your apex (they hold their value pretty well, but you'll still take a loss), use that money to get the Fishbit. Haha, just a thought

Hi Sheldon,

Just wanted to ask how do you feel about the Wavs? I bought the starter kit, am saving it for my next build. Im undecided on the tank, between a rimless custom and the reefer 525xl. I tried the Wavs on my 57 gal(36"x18"x20") and at 1% i felt it was a bit strong. Im curious at this point if i should shoot for a wider tank(back to front) since i want to accomodate the Wavs on the back glass... The 525 is a bit wider than the 450, but do you feel that size tank would house the two pumps with no issues? Thanks for the help

Just a quick update. I decided i wanted a refugium in my sump area, and as all my other fellow Red Sea REEFERs know there is no room in the sump for a refugium. I considered buying a whole new sump for a quick minute, but then i quickly realized why i liked this REEFER product. Because it came with everything. So.... Having established a better ATO system for my tank, and i no longer needed the gravity fed ATO system, i decided to plumb my ATO tank as the refugium.

New ATO hole drilled for the new float switches. that connect to my APEX break out box.

The green feed line is temporary, until i build my manifold from the return line.

Not the best pic, but here is a cell phone picture of the Float switch for the apex

Please Sheldon can you explain how you plumbed water into your refugium and where does it exit? Make it simple please because I have no plumbing experience. Really want a refugium so I canhave a mandarin and not usinf stock auto top off any longer. Thank you!

I'm planning on redoing the reactors so there are plumbing inline with the return pump..as a few have done before which will give me the option to put the topup back (not that i rate it)

Please tell me more. This is exactly what I need! Did you get it online and where did you get the light?

So I have sold the tank knowing we are going to move soon, so I kept the fags I wanted in a little Ada 60p tank "office tiger" little build on here too.

you guys and your white tanks lol. i started with radion g3 pros... couldn't get a decent program... switched to kessil 360we's and couldn't be happier, neither could my corals!
I know this is an old post I’m quoting. But I am struggling to find someone with this exact Kessil 360 X3 on reefer 450 setup to copy light programing from. Care to share!?
