What response (if any) have people had from Red Sea on smaller tanks such as 250’s with this issue? I’ve realised that I’ve got this problem on both of my 250’s, one is worse than the other - I’ve just messaged them to see what they say.

Does anyone know if there's a link to download the instructions for the support brace? I lost mine. Thanks!

There is no evidence (I dont think) that this issue affects anything but the 750 XXL. For example - my 525 'fails' the paper test - and it has been determined that 'it makes no difference'.

anyone got info on if the V3 and 900 are fixed or just saying they are?
Those both have completely redesigned stands with metal braces. Also all the inside corners of the tank have corner reinforcements. I saw a 900 at a local store and it’s impressive. Also nice to see the stand improvements.

thank you for the input, with the 900 the website was a bi tvauge so can I ask five questions?
thank you in advance if you respond
  1. was the back and weir glass or plastic
  2. did it have a levelling mat built in
  3. how much room was actually in the extended sump roughly taking into account the divider
  4. how much room was in the equipment area
  5. was there room to run a cable between the main sump and cable management area?

I only saw the tank at the LFS, I honestly didn’t pay that close of attention To answer your specific questions without being sure.

This is the shop that has a 900. Perhaps you can Email them direct and ask?

Ordered mine way back when it was announced, but apparently my order got lost. Called the other day to figure out what was taking so long and they expedited one. Just got it installed. It was easy enough until the portion in the electronics section... That requires some carpentry to squeeze in. My panel support was about 1/4" too tall and my light power supplies were hung just ever so slightly high. All done though.

And a pic of how much I had to raise it. Had a hard time getting the bar in actually. Raised probably 1/8" or so.

Yes and yes. Rimless tanks should be fully supported. Red Sea is implying that for the smaller models, their stands are good enough- that the sagging just becomes problematic on the 750xxl.

But obviously, full support is better than partial support. The less stress on the silicon, the longer it’ll last. I want my reefer 350 to last, and will be reinforcing it ASAP.
Did you end up reinforcing? If so, how? Cheers

Would it be a good idea to maybe reinforce parts of the stand before you put the tank on top - for new purchases/builds...?

I think they fixed the issues in the 750 V3 but if starting up a V2 probably worth getting the reinforcements straight away.

I was one who got their tank and stand replaced and I can say that both the tank and stand are much better. The new tank has armored corners and a thicker bottom and the stand is beefed up in several ways with extra wood and metal support. My tank still says v2 but it is not the same as the old v2

I thought I would attach some pics to show the differences. FTS first.

Next the armored corners. They are like a plastic piece added to the corner to protect the seams.

The center divider is now two boards thick.

The upgrade reinforcements are now standard. For both the centre jack and the sides.

Finally and most impressive to me the top is 1 piece instead of 3. It is thicker than before and it has a metal reinforcement in the front to aid in rigidity and so that the front pane is now supported and not hanging off the stand. (Sorry not the best pic but you can see that less of the glass from the front pain is hanging off.)

Does that kind of take away from the flat seem look - and why you pay so much for this tank...?

I would pay more for it. Longevity is worth something and this is often an upgrade people pay for from custom tank builders. Plus from the side you really can’t tell. It just looks like the silicon is a bit thicker.

Very nice changes. Makes me much more confident in the longevity.

I requested reinforced corners and 1/2" glass when I had a shallow frag tank built (47x24x16 tall), and a XL chamfer (excess) of silicon on the lower seams.

Kudos to them for rectifying the issue, however, it's mind boggling that with all their experience manufacturing and engineering aquarium systems they didn't forsee this issue. How did they not know they didn't have a stand that would support the weight? This isn't a fledgling company. Bizarre. Good on them for fixing it, though. Even if it was after several dozens stands failing.
