So this thing... any idea?

Popped up about three weeks ago, now about 4 to 5 inches across. It's firm like a jelly fish, basically just full of water. Looks like a crumpled bag stuck to a rock. Thinking maybe a sponge of sorts, or just some odd fungus of some kind. I plan on carefully pulling it out soon but wanted to share the pics and try to identify it first since I've been in the hobby for 15 to 20 years and I've never seen anything quite like it before. It's interesting... whatever it is. If I come down tomorrow to find it's out of the tank and the dog is missing I'll know I waited too long!

Growing fast whatever it is! It's in an established (6 months) 300 gallon mixed reef with stable parameters. Some hair and bubble algae but nothing too crazy, except this blob that seems to have found it's way into the tank via a frag recently.

Here's a few more with just the white lights on in case it helps.
Indeed macroalgae as suspected and some regard it as seaweed

See if Colpomenia is a match.
Other than a definite reddish tint, I believe this is a match, well done. The images when googled are very similar. This thing is actually rather pretty but at the rate that it's growing has got to go. It's literally grown another inch overnight and has caused the bubble tip to move as a result.

Thank you for the help in identifying my blob, pretty sure you nailed it!
