The reef tank is filling in. Getting close to a year since I added the first livestock and I think the sweet spot is dialed in finally.

Any idea what causes the TeePee on these? One of my Alveopora is doing the same thing and I was curious if maybe it was light hungry?

Edit: lower right hand coral.
Swaying in the flow is an indication of it’s happy and everything is spot on. Closed and receding polyps is cause for concern with Alveopora and Goniopora.

Ok. Mine love to sway and reach. It's just odd because one of them has several tentacles/polyps that appear almost TeePee like.

I wouldn’t be concerned with it unless the polyps stop coming out of the skeleton.

@ReefStache so is there anything you wish you would have done different. How are you like the illumagic blaze? Anything at all you would have done different? Regret peninsula style at all?
Love the lights… they are beast.

Great question… one thing I would have done differently would be installing the tank off the wall more - just enough that I could get behind the tank to clean the back glass. Busting a ladder out more than once a week is a pain in the ****.

I do not regret going with a Peninsula to get the overflow off the back glass and off to the side to accomplish that lighted background effect free of equipment and I needed a clear back glass versus black. Going with the Peninsula actually turned out to be one of my best decisions on this build in regards to the overall look of it.

I’m about to pull the trigger on a Cade I think. I’m just so torn between regular or peninsula. I feel like your tank has made me rethink the peninsula. Plus I kinda like the sump layout better on the peninsula. Guess I’m kinda answering my own questions. Haha. Thanks for your response. I’ve watched all your vids. Beautiful tank man. For real.

ReefStache, in your opinion, can a reef mat be easily installed in that sump? I seen others do in the long 7' reef but haven't come across it in the peninsula

I haven’t looked into this yet. I bet @AlgaeBarn has been asked and would have some input for you.

Thank you for the kind words! To be able to inspire others with their builds inspires me. :)

Here’s what the tank looks like when I don’t clean the back glass every other day. It’s a chore to keep up with! #ReeftankLife #reefstache #aquarium #fishtank
